After her split with Reggie Bush, Kim Kardashian met Kris Humphries. Still in her WAG stage of life, Kris was a professional basketball player at the time. When Kris Humphries first met Kim Kardashian, he was playing for the New Jersey Nets in the NBA. Kris played for the New Jersey Nets from 2010 to 2011.

Kris and Kim first met in October 2010. Their relationship quickly progressed, and they became engaged in May 2011.

The engagement received significant media attention due to the rapid nature of the way in which things progressed. Kim and Kris got engaged only seven months after having been first spotted together. Kris prepared a beautiful setup in her bedroom in her Calabasas home with candles and rose petals written out to say, “Will You Marry Me?”.

Kris Humphries appeared on Kim's reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashian's, Season 6, during the course of their relationship. The season ended with a wedding special "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" which drew 10.5 million viewers making it one of the most watched televised events to date at it's time.

The wedding took place on August 20, 2011. Kim wore a custom-designed strapless Vera Wang ball gown and accessorized her look with a veil and bejeweled headpiece.

However, the marriage was short-lived, and Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kris Humphries after only 72 days of marriage, with the divorce being finalized in 2013.

Kris Humphries proposed to Kim Kardashian with a 20.5-carat emerald cut Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring. The ring was quite extravagant and garnered a lot of attention due to its size and design.

The engagement ring featured a 16.5-carat emerald-cut center diamond flanked by a pair of trapezoid-cut side stones weighing 2 carats each for a total of 20.5 carats.

At the time, it was thought that the engagement ring was purchased for somewhere in the region of $2 million.

The proposal itself took place in May 2011, and the engagement ring was a significant part of the media coverage surrounding their relationship.

Following the divorce, it's reported that Kris Humphries sold the ring through renowned auction house Christies for $749,000.
