Prince Charles proposed to Lady Diana Spencer with a sapphire engagement ring in February 1981. The engagement ring, featuring the large oval blue sapphire and diamonds, became one of the most famous and recognizable pieces of jewelry in the world. The design of the ring was a departure from the traditional royal engagement rings, and its popularity soared, making it a symbol of Princess Diana's style and grace.
After Princess Diana's passing in 1997, the ring was passed down to her eldest son, Prince William. Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with this sapphire engagement ring from his mother Princess Diana.
